What is Cost of Work Permit in UAE?

The UAE government has reduced the cost of a work permit in the UAE From June 1, 2022. When the COVID-19 pandemic impacted many businesses the government of the UAE issued several degrees to help affected industries, including lowering the cost of work permits.

Before we get into the specific range of work permit fees, let me explain about work permits in the UAE.

What is a work permit in UAE?

A work permit is a document issued by the Ministry of Labor that authorizes a foreign national to work in the country. Before applying for a residency visa, employers must obtain a work permit for their new employees.

Nobody can work in the UAE without this permit; if caught doing so, they will face legal consequences.

The cost of a Work Permit in the United Arab Emirates depends on the company’s classification based on the number of skilled workers and cultural diversity.

Cost of Work Permit in UAE

Issuing the work permits to workers who are already in the country. This is only applicable to UAE residents with valid residency visas.

  • A work permit for juveniles – Dh50
  • Temporary work permit – Dh50
  • A part-time work permit – Dh50
  • Training permit – Dh50
  • Probationary work permit – Dh50
  • Issuing a work permit for residency holders – Dh50
  • work permit for freelancers for two years – Dh250

Issuing the work permits to workers who are outside of the country. 

Request for a work permit:

  • Category A: Dh50
  • Category B: Dh50
  • Category C: Dh50

Issue a work permit for two years:

  • Category A: Dh250
  • Category B: Dh1,200
  • Category C: Dh3,450

Issue a work permit for a project:

  • Category A: Dh250
  • Category B: Dh250
  • Category C: Dh250

Renewal of work permits for two years:

  • Category A – Dh250
  • Category B – Dh1,200
  • Category C – Dh3,450

Amending a labor contract:

  • Category A – Dh50
  • Category B – Dh50
  • Category C – Dh50

Transfering the work permit:

  • Category A – Dh50
  • Category B – Dh50
  • Category C – Dh50

Transfering the work permit for two years:

  • Category A – Dh250
  • Category B – Dh1,200
  • Category C – Dh3,450

As previously stated, the cost of a work permit in the United Arab Emirates is determined by the company’s category; There are three categories, and the MOHRE (Ministry of Human Resource Emiratization) charges for issuing the work permit based on them.
